Mumbai has several admission routes, so start by matching your exams to the colleges. IIM Mumbai and SPJIMR shortlist on CAT; NMIMS admits through NMAT; Welingkar and K J Somaiya accept several exams, including CAT, XAT, CMAT and GMAT; and JBIMS fills its seats through the Maharashtra Centralised Admission Process (CAP) run by the State CET Cell, on MAH-CET, CAT or CMAT scores.
The state CAP route is the one most often missed. JBIMS and other university-affiliated colleges do not run their own application: you must register with the CET Cell inside its window, usually in summer, even if you are an out-of-state CAT taker. Missing that window removes you from the process entirely.
Private institutes such as SPJIMR, Welingkar and K J Somaiya publish their own selection rules. Some publish a minimum percentile and add a profile review, written test or interview; read the admission policy for your intake year, because weights change between cycles.
Fees in Mumbai range from low university fees to high private PGDM fees, and hostel availability varies a lot by campus, which matters in an expensive city. Placement reports are published per batch; compare medians where they are given.

Preparing for CAT?
Live online classes, full mocks and a monthly MAPs session with faculty.
Enroll nowIt depends on the college. IIM Mumbai and SPJIMR use CAT, NMIMS uses NMAT, and Welingkar and K J Somaiya accept several exams including CAT, XAT and CMAT. JBIMS admits through the Maharashtra state CAP on MAH-CET, CAT or CMAT.
JBIMS fills its seats through the Maharashtra Centralised Admission Process. CAT takers must register with the State CET Cell in its admission window and take part in the CAP rounds; JBIMS has no separate application.
NMIMS admits to its MBA programmes through NMAT, and only your first NMAT attempt counts for NMIMS. Several other private colleges in Mumbai also accept NMAT along with other exams.
Some do and some do not. Several Mumbai institutes have limited or off-campus hostels, so check each college page for its hostel note and add housing to your cost comparison.
Calls range widely: IIM Mumbai and JBIMS have called only at very high percentiles, while several private PGDM colleges publish minimums around the 80th percentile. Each college in the list shows its published minimum and its last actual or expected call.
