The Institute of Management Studies at Banaras Hindu University, long known as the Faculty of Management Studies, runs two-year MBA and MBA (International Business) programmes on the BHU campus in Varanasi. Both lead to a central university degree, and each has a small intake of about 59 seats.
CAT is the only entrance route. Candidates register on the university's admission portal with their CAT registration number, then those shortlisted on the CAT score take a group discussion and personal interview. You need at least 50% in your degree (45% for SC and ST). For the 2026–28 cycle, registration ran until 31 January 2026; the 2027–29 bulletin had not been released when checked.
The fee is low for a CAT-based MBA: reported tuition is ₹30,000 a semester, or ₹1.2 lakh over two years, with a modest hostel charge and mess extra.
