What is the minimum CAT percentile for the IIMs?
Each IIM sets its own. For CAT 2026, IIM Ahmedabad asks General candidates for 95 overall and 85 in each section, and IIM Calcutta for 85 overall with 80, 80 and 75 in VARC, DILR and QA. Clearing a minimum makes you eligible for the shortlist, not selected.
Which IIM has the highest cutoff?
Among published minimums, IIM Rohtak's is the highest overall: 97 for General candidates in CAT 2025, with no sectional minimum. IIM Ahmedabad asks for 95 overall and 85 in every section for CAT 2026, the highest sectional minimums.
Can I get an IIM with 90 percentile?
A 90 percentile with every sectional minimum cleared meets the published minimums of several IIMs, including IIM Lucknow, Indore, Amritsar and Sambalpur and the CAP and JAP groups. Whether you get a call depends on each IIM's composite score, so check its weights.
What are the IIM cutoffs for OBC, SC, ST, EWS and PwD candidates?
They are lower and set by each IIM. At IIM Ahmedabad for CAT 2026: NC-OBC 90 overall and 80 per section, SC 85 and 75, ST 75 and 65, with lower minimums for PwD candidates in each category. Every IIM's categories are listed under the table.
Do IIMs have sectional cutoffs?
Most do. IIM Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Calcutta and most others set a minimum in VARC, DILR and QA; IIM Shillong sets sectional minimums only. IIM Rohtak and Sambalpur set only an overall minimum, and Sambalpur and Bangalore need a positive raw score in every section.
Is 70 marks a good score in CAT?
It depends on how marks turn into percentiles that year and on the IIM you are aiming for. See CAT score vs percentile for how raw scores map to percentiles, then compare with the minimums above.
When are CAT 2026 cutoffs and IIM shortlists released?
The CAT 2026 exam is on 29 Nov 2026 and the result follows in January. IIMs publish their shortlists after it; IIM Ahmedabad plans its shortlist for the second week of January.
What is the difference between CAP and JAP?
Both let newer IIMs share one application. CAP 2026 covered IIM Bodh Gaya, Jammu and Sirmaur; JAP 2026 covered IIM Kashipur, Raipur, Ranchi and Trichy. Each group sets common minimums, and each IIM makes its own offers.
