Attempts
Up to 3 times in a testing cycle: your first attempt plus two retakes, each at least seven days after a valid attempt and each with its own fee. NMIMS accepts only the score of your first attempt. Other schools set their own rules, so check each one before you plan a retake.
Up to 3 attempts, seven days apart. NMIMS counts only your first attempt.
The rule most pages miss
A retake can help with other schools, but it cannot replace your first score at NMIMS. Our advice: book your first slot when your mocks are where you want them, not as a practice run. If CAT is your main test, that usually means after 29 Nov 2026.

FAQ
Preparing for CAT and NMAT together?
Live online classes, OMET and NMAT mocks, and a monthly MAPs session with faculty.
When is NMAT 2026, and can I still register?
Testing runs from 02 Nov 2026 to 20 Dec 2026. Registration for this cycle closed on 31 Oct 2026. If you are registered, you can reschedule until 17 Dec 2026 and book a retake between 03 Nov 2026 and 17 Dec 2026.
Is there negative marking in NMAT?
No. GMAC does not deduct marks for wrong answers, so answer every question within each section's time. Scores are scaled 12–120 per section.
Which NMAT score does NMIMS use?
Only your first attempt. NMIMS states that it accepts the score of the first NMAT you take, so a retake will not replace it there. Other schools set their own rules.
How many times can I take NMAT?
Up to 3 times in a testing cycle: the first attempt and two retakes, each at least seven days after a valid attempt and each with its own ₹3,000 fee plus taxes.
Is 250 a good NMAT score?
It depends on the school and the year. GMAC reports your score with a percentile, and NMIMS sets its cutoff at its own discretion without publishing it. Compare your score with each school's official shortlist.
Is NMAT tougher than CAT?
It is different rather than tougher. NMAT gives you about a minute per question, has no negative marking and adapts to your answers; CAT has fewer questions, negative marking and fixed sections. Many students take both.
Is there an NMAT test centre in Ahmedabad?
Yes. Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Surat and Vadodara have NMAT test centres, and NMIMS runs an MBA at its Ahmedabad campus in Sanand.
When do I get my NMAT result?
You see a score preview on screen at the end of the test, and the scorecard is ready within 48 hours. The score is valid for one year.
